No matter how many hundreds (thousands?) of writing jobs I've done for others, here I sit, completely baffled by what to write about myself. But I'll give it a go...

After more than twenty years (yes, I know that should be "20", but doesn't it look cleaner when it is spelled out?) working for advertising agencies in various creative roles, I decided to strike out on my own.

I loved working for agencies. I love the people the business attracts. I love the diverse nature of the clients and the work. I love language and digging in to find the best way to use it to communicate, persuade, inform and charm. I am a fan of other writers' smart, succinct writing and strive to achieve those qualities in my own.

I still welcome the challenge of a new brief and finding a new way to express an old idea. Only now I do it from my home office or a window seat at Local Jo Café.

ONE MORE THING: The work you will find on my website not only reflects the contributions I have made, but the accomplishments of dozens of others, from clients to account team members, designers, art directors, production artists and production partners. In my experience, very few ideas come to life based on a single person's efforts, but are the result of creative collaboration. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented people throughout my career.
